Windows Mail auto complete problem Windows
Mail AutoComplete does not work
Microsoft's answer to the problem
The Windows Mail remembers only 20 mail recipients,
so that is the reason why your old mail contacts don’t show
automatically for sender list.
This solution works.
You have a contact named Paul Tanner and that contact has an
email address associated with it ....
Start new email, type the first 3 letters of the name Pau
then press Tab key
the address should now read from the contacts list and auto complete.
Auto-complete function works much better in the
newerWindows Live Mail
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview
Deleting old addresses in Windows Mail auto complete
Open up your registry editor by typing in regedit into the start menu search
box,
and then browse down to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Recently Used Addresses
Right-hand side - Delete everything other than the (Default)
key.
all of your auto-complete entries should be gone, including the wrong ones

Vista's ReadyBoost feature allows you to plug in a USB flash
drive or a flash memory card and use its contents to cache frequently used
files. Surprisingly, this feature really works, and with the cost of 1GB+
flash drives these days it's a cheap way to speed up a system without having
to remove the cover.
ReadyBoost:
limited testing suggests that the gains range from modest to downright
nonexistent.
The USB flash drive speed champ in is the Apacer Handy Steno model
HT-203 drive.
Microsoft recommends a drive that is at least equal in capacity to the
amount of RAM installed on your system.

XP folders always read only attribute
Unlike the Read-only attribute for a file, the Read-only attribute for a
folder is typically ignored by Windows, Windows components and accessories,
and other programs. For example, you can delete, rename, and change a folder
with the Read-only attribute by using Windows Explorer. The Read-only and
System attributes is only used by Windows Explorer to determine whether the
folder is a special folder, such as a system folder that has its view
customized by Windows (for example, My Documents, Favorites, Fonts,
Downloaded Program Files), or a folder that you customized by using the
Customize tab of the folder's Properties dialog box. As a result, Windows
Explorer does not allow you to view or change the Read-only or System
attributes of folders. When a folder has the Read-Only attribute set it
causes Explorer to request the Desktop.ini of that folder to see if any
special folder settings need to be set. It has been seen where if a network
share that has a large amount of folders set to Read-only, it can cause
Explorer to take longer then what is expected to render the contents of that
share while it waits on the retrieval of the Desktop.ini files. The slower
the network connectivity to the share the longer this process can take to
the point where Explorer may timeout waiting for the data and render nothing
or appear to hang.

Mount your Linux partition in Windows
http://www.codejacked.com/automatically-mount-your-linux-partition-in-windows/
You can automatically mount your Linux partition in Windows and have
read/write functionality with a freeware application called Ext2Fsd.
I will take you through the process of mounting your Linux partition
using Windows XP.
Download this free program -
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Ext2Fsd.shtml
After you install Ext2Fsd you need to mount the Linux partition.
Mount the Linux partition by opening Command Prompt and typing the
following:
mount 0 1 L:
Note: the “0″ above is a zero.
If you get a response like the following, the mount worked and you
will be able to access your Linux partition in My Computer.
The mount command is pretty obvious, and mounts your partition. The
zero references your hard drive. If you are like most users and only
use one hard drive, then you will want to leave the zero. If you use
multiple hard drives then you will need to change that number
appropriately.

Lots of desktop icons ? -
Change the icon cache size in Windows XP Pro
With a quick change in the Windows XP registry, you can increase
the icon cache that XP uses to store icon information.
Doing so will speed up desktop refreshes on your computer.
By default, Windows XP doesn't reserve a lot of memory for icon
caching.
By sacrificing a little bit of RAM, you can speed up perceived
workstation performance.
When the Registry Editor opens, navigate through the left pane until
you get to the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer.
In the right pane, look for the value named Max Cached Icons.
f the value exists, it's probably set to 500, which is the default
value for the key.
To change the value, double-click it. You'll then see the Edit
String screen.
Enter a value of 2000 in the Value Data field and click OK.
If the value doesn't exist, you'll need to add it. Select New |
String Value from
the Edit menu. The new value will appear in the right pane,
prompting you for
a value name. Type Max Cached Icons and press [Enter]. Make sure you
separate each word with a space. The proper value is Max Cached
Icons,
not MaxCachedIcons.
Double-click the new value. You'll then see the Edit String screen.
Enter a value of 2000 in the Value Data field and click OK.

BATCH
COMMANDS
For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of
interesting new commands. These include 'eventcreate' and 'eventtriggers'
for creating and watching system events, 'typeperf' for monitoring
performance of various subsystems, and 'schtasks' for handling
scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will
give a list of options -- they're all far too baroque to go into here.
You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line
by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the
process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also
tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

Annoyed by XP asking for
registration again & again?
Users who are troubled by registrations reminders every now and then.
Before you begin, make sure PC must not be connected to the network.
During XP setup answer no when setup asks you to use Windows Dynamic
Update. Dynamic update connects to Microsoft to register XP. Once the
installation is completed, reboot to Safe mode. Go to Windows Explorer
and rename %systemroot%\System32\regwizc.dll and %systemroot%\System32\Dllcach\regwizc.dll
to regwizc.dll.bak or whatever. By renaming the regwizc DLL, it blocks
other windows components from registering XP to Microsoft. Now,
navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion]
and look for the data key "RegDone" and set its value to 1 to make XP
believe that its registered . Change the IE home page to something
besides Microsoft's web site. Reboot to Normal mode and reconnect your
nic card before the XP Windows GUI loads.
